Kyle Heitmiller:  Lead Vocals, Guitar

Kyle Heitmiller was one of the founders of the Leon River Band and has been playing music all his life.  He started teaching himself to play the guitar at the age of 8.  Originally from West, Texas, where he graduated from high school, he moved to Belton 20 years ago and has been very active in the community.  He is apart of the Belton Youth Baseball Association board and coaches many of his children’s sports teams.

After high school Kyle went to Kilgore Junior College to play football, he felt as though it was not for him and moved back to West and started working at TXU.  Through the years he played in several local bands and continued to keep music in his life.

Kyle married his long time girlfriend, Pam Wolf in 1981 and has been happily married ever since.  Kyle and Pam are blessed with five kids; four girls; Brett, Blair, Brooke, and Bailey and one boy, Beau.  Kyle works for TXU and in his spare time loves being with his kids and enjoys watching their games.

Jeff Pustka:  Guitar, Vocals

Jeff Pustka has been with the Leon River Band since the beginning.  He has been a resident of central Texas all his life.  A graduate of Belton High School in 1978, he is intimately familiar with the music that the band plays.  He was a member of the Belton High School Marching 100 band all through high school.  During this time, the band won several awards for marching and concert performances.

After high school, he concentrated on his education, eventually getting an Accounting degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.  After high school graduation, Jeff never played a serious note on a musical instrument for almost 20 years, although his love of music of all types never waned.  It was in the mid-1990’s  that he picked up the guitar and, with the help of a few friends, taught himself how to play.

Jeff has been happily married to his wife, Janice, for over 25 years (has it been that long?).  They have been blessed with twin sons, Andrew and Zachary, who are now 18.  For his "day job", he works as an accountant.  He has worked for very small professional firms up to Fortune 100 companies.  In his spare time, he enjoys serving God and others.  He also digs sports and outdoors activities such as jogging, hunting, fishing, and contact sports - as an observer!

Elizabeth Maybin:  Vocals

Elizabeth Maybin joined Leon River Band in March 2004.  She brings some female vocals to a male-dominated clan.  Elizabeth grew up in the Texas panhandle, but moved to central Texas after college to start a “real job”.

Elizabeth began singing at a young age, doing talent shows and performances in church and in public beginning when she was 6.  Through junior high and high school, she was an active member of marching and concert band.  She also sang in a Panhandle-based religious choir, and in the church choir.

Elizabeth went on a choir scholarship to McMurry University in Abilene, where she received her degree in Exercise and Sport Studies.  After receiving a masters degree in Sports Health from Texas Tech University, she moved to Belton to become one of the athletic trainers at Belton High School.  In 2002, she moved a mile down the road to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as an athletic trainer, and remains there as one of their licensed/certified staff.

During and after college, Elizabeth has sung on many different church praise teams, including at Temple Bible Church, where she now attends. Then, in June 2008, she married Russell Maybin, and gained three stepchildren. With her job and other commitments, free time is scarce, but she spends it doing triathlons, reading, crafts, and hanging out with Russell, the kids, and friends.

Jerry Pate:  Drums & Percussion

Jerry joined Leon River Band in the summer of 2003.  Though fairly new to the band he is not new to the area.  Jerry was born and raised in Belton where he attended 1st through 12th grade and graduated from BHS in 1982.

Jerry attended Temple Junior College on a full music scholarship before attending Baylor University.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1987 and also earned his Master of Science Degree in Education in 1997, both from Baylor University.  Jerry is licensed by the state of  Texas and is also a nationally certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.

Jerry is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Central Texas Athletic Trainers’ Society and a member of the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association.  He served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Cedar Hill High School from 1987-1990 and then worked as an athletic trainer for Hillcrest Baptist MedicalCenter in Waco, TX.  After three years at HBMC he served almost 10 years with Baylor University as an assistant athletic trainer working primarily with the men’s basketball team and also with the women’s soccer team.

Jerry continues to play his drums professionally with the Leon River Band and most recently with the Brett Heitmiller Band.  He has been married to Vicki (Smith) Pate, also a Belton High School graduate for 20 years.  They have three children, Tyler (16), Courtney (14) and Cassidy (11).
